Mr Daniel McAuliffe, BA, MA
Head of Art

Ceramicist, painter, fashionista, interior design enthusiast.

  • Currently inspired by: Sam Francis, Cecily Brown, Cy Twombly and good design.  

Mr McAuliffe is Head of Art.  He joined the school in 2007 as the specialist sculpture teacher, having previously taught at Giggleswick School in North Yorkshire, where he was initially the Artist in Residence.  He has a Master’s Degree in Art and Design and a Degree in Applied Arts from the University of Coventry.  He is a practising artist and exhibits his ceramic sculptures on a regular basis.  In addition to this, Mr McAuliffe is the Deputy Head of Academic Enrichment, the Editor of the Brentwoodian and a 6th Form Tutor.


Miss Nancy Bixby, MA
Deputy Head of Art

Painter, collector of art, dog lover.

  • Currently inspired by: her five canaries, Robert Ryman, The Glasgow Boys and the drawings of Vincent van Gogh.

The stalwart of the department, Miss Bixby's attention to detail and devotion to her students goes beyond the call of duty. If you need the perfect paintbrush or a pot of gold paint, Miss Bixby has it!

Miss Victoria Cooper, BA
Teacher of Art

Miss Victoria Cooper is currently teaching Art and Design and joined the school in 2015. She gained an art degree from Leeds College of Art and specialises in jewellery design and metalwork. In addition to teaching, she is a netball coach for the under-13 team and assists with the production of props for the drama department.

Miss Katie Gellard, BA

Duke of Edinburgh's Award Bronze Leader

Miss Katie Gellard is currently teaching Art. This is her first year at Brentwood School, having previously taught at Brentwood County High School. After completing her degree in fine art, she spent time working as a practicing artist before pursuing a career in teaching. In addition to teaching, Katie assists with Duke of Edinburgh award and Netball.
