Reigning SODI World Karting Champion and Brentwood School pupil, Matthew Luff, continues to excel in the world of karting.
Fourteen-year-old Matt has recently smashed two track lap records at Kent's Buckmore Park and Suffolk's Ellough Park circuits. Buckmore Park, where the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Jensen Button and Johnny Herbert honed their craft, saw Matt break their lap record last month and then break his own new record last weekend achieving a lap time of 48.880 seconds.
Buckmore Park's Senior Race Director, Alan Wood, said: "The record has stood at 49 something for more than a couple of years until last month when Matt knocked a couple of tenths off it. I didn't think I would see a sub 49 second lap anytime soon, it really was most impressive".
Matt, who is in the Fourth Year, visited the Ellough Park track earlier this month and easily smashed their lap record having never driven at the circuit before. Race Director, Steve, said "Matt is just astounding".
The JDR karting team, based in Northampton, have just invited Matt to race for their team in one of their new MS karts. JDR's owner, Jack Dex, spotted Matt racing as a novice at the Kimbolton circuit in Huntingdon and said: "Matt is phenomenal, I had to go and check he was a novice".
Matt is also one-third of the Brentwood Banta endurance team which is currently ranked first in the UK and twelfth in the World after only three rounds of the championship.
