Brentwood crowned 2016 British School Karting Champions

On Saturday the Brentwood School Karting Team won the British Schools’ Karting Championships with a comfortable 9 point lead.  Fourth Year pupils Matthew Luff, Callum Brooks and Iaroslav Kovalev have won a prize of a day at the Silverstone circuit as guests at the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship Meeting in September which includes a garage tour of the BTCC team, paddock tours with the F4 team, Ginetta cars and Renaultsport, plus time in the Race Control building and time to enjoy all the race action that day.

Matthew Luff also won fastest lap and best MSA driver so it was a clean sweep with Brentwood picking up every available award. Matthew wins a free entry into the 2017 Ginetta Junior Scholarship which will see one budding racing driver win a fully funded season in the 2017 Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship.

The event saw 199 teams enter with over 600 pupils taking part. Brentwood School were runners up last year in the 10-year strong competition, and race organisers commented that the standard of driving was much higher this year than last year with more teams taking part from all over the UK including Wales and Northern Ireland.

Team Captain and parent Lynn Luff commented: "This is an incredible achievement for each of the drivers both personally and for the School. I’m incredibly proud of all three drivers. I would also like to thank the School for allowing us the opportunity to take part in the BSKC over the last two years.  We're looking forward to next year and coming back to defend our title!"
