Chapel Services

On weekdays, the Chapel is a place set aside for quiet reflection and prayer. Each day (except Thursday) begins with a short, voluntary service of Morning Prayer at 8am where we pray for the needs of the School community and the wider world. On Thursday, we have a service of Holy Communion at 1pm which is open to all members of the School community.

Our weekly Chapel services are approximately 15 minutes in length and aim to provide an opportunity for students and staff to pause in the midst of a busy day and take time to reflect upon the wider, spiritual dimension to our lives. Each Term, the services follow a theme.

As well as marking key moments in the Christian year such as Harvest, Remembrance, and Christmas, the Preparatory School gathers weekly as a community to reflect upon the spiritual dimension of their lives and to consider, not only who they are, but how they relate to one another and to the wider community and world.

Each Wednesday, the chaplain leads a short service in the Preparatory School for children aged 7-11. The service lasts for around 15 minutes and usually begins with a hymn which is wonderfully accompanied by the Assembly Orchestra. The talks, which follow a termly theme, have a Christian character but are structured to allow children of all faiths and none to feel both included and valued as members of this school community.  The half-termly service for the children aged 3-7 usually marks key moments in the school year such as the beginning and end of the year as well as Christmas and Easter.

Throughout the year there will be a number of Special Services here in the Chapel at Brentwood School to mark and celebrate key moments in the Christian Year and the life of this School.

The Services are open to all who have a connection with this School – whether you are a current pupil or parent or member of staff or an OB or a member of a family who has some ties to Brentwood School.

If you would like more information about these services then please do not hesitate to contact me directly by email –

I look forward to welcoming you to the Chapel.

Revd. Dr. Adrian McConnaughie, Chaplain
