En garde! Brentwood School Winter Fencing Tournament 2016

More than 60 students from Brentwood School competed in our very own Brentwood School Winter Tournament 2016 held in Courage Hall last Saturday.

Thirteen-year-old Tanay Sonawane secured a great bronze medal in the Years 7, 8 and 9 Mixed Sabre and Ian Ho, also aged 13, managed to win the silver medal losing only to one point against his French opponent.
In Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 Mixed Sabre, 14-year-old Valentin Ivanov won an excellent bronze medal, silver was claimed by Jaidaksh Anilkumar, aged 15, and Tom Woolterton, aged 16, fenced superbly to win the tournament.
In Years 7,8 and 9 intermediate Foil, Grace Dinning won a superb bronze medal and Joanna Burgess claimed the silver medal. In Years 7, 8 and 9 advanced Foil, a fantastic bronze medal was won by Maddy Gale, and in Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 Mixed Foil, another great bronze medal was claimed by Robbie Woolterton. In Years 7, 8 and 9 Mixed Epee, bronze medals were won by Oli Langford and Zack Lingard, and in Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 Epee, Chris Danquah also won a bronze medal and Matthew Goodwin fenced very well to claim silver.
