GCSEs add up for Mathematical Siblings

It’s a family affair! Being a Maths whizz runs in the Ejemai family as 12-year-old Zipporah follows in her big brother’s footsteps by gaining an astonishing A* in her Mathematics GCSE years earlier than expected.

Zipporah, who took the more difficult International GCSE in the First Year, is continuing a family tradition which saw brother Andrew achieve an A* in the same qualification when he was just nine years old.

Fifteen-year-old Andrew also picked up his GCSE results on Thursday and achieved an outstanding tally of 10 A*s and 4As. He has also achieved additional free-standing qualifications in the Foundations of Advanced Maths, Additional Maths and Thinking and Reasoning Skills, as well as two A Levels, for which he received an A*. Andrew is hoping to study at Cambridge University a year early.

Headmaster Mr Ian Davies said: “We have lots of talented mathematicians at Brentwood but Andrew and Zipporah are exceptional. We are fortunate to have a cohort of exceptional Mathematics teachers who were more than able to teach to Oxford and Cambridge level.”
