A late penalty saw Brentwood through to the final of the Investec Independent Schools Football Association U15 Cup following a 1-0 win over a gallant and well-disciplined Grammar School at Leeds.
As a result of their superb efforts, and following an excellent run of form, the team will now play Millfield School in the Cup final on Thursday 3rd March at Burton Albion's Pirelli Stadium, 6pm kick off.
The Grammar School at Leeds ground staff had worked wonders to make the pitch playable for yesterday’s semi-final match which turned out to be a nail-biting affair.
In heavy conditions, there was little to choose between the sides with few chances and only glimpses of free flowing football. After Charlie Clayden and Ed Forbes had goals ruled out for offside, the game was decided 10 minutes from time when Charlie Bacon was bought down in the penalty area, enabling Charlie Clayden to coolly slot home the winning goal.
Premier League referee Jon Moss took charge of the match.
Headmaster Ian Davies congratulated all the boys and their coaches on an excellent performance. He also wished the School’s First XI the best of luck in their semi-final match against Bradfield on Tuesday for a place in the Boodles ISFA Cup Final.
