Let the Battle Commence……

The arena is set and the countdown has begun to Brentwood School’s much-anticipated appearance on BBC’s Robot War with the team’s new, and much improved robot… EXPULSION.

Tune in to Sunday night’s thrilling episode (BBC 2, 8pm) to see the School’s young roboteers, Team Captain Georgina Henwood, Rebecca Ashford, Juliette Skilling and Harry Millsom, take on the country’s top robot fighting enthusiasts.

Following a defeat in the last series of Robot Wars, the School team has worked tirelessly to improve the overall structure of EXPLUSION. With three times the power, EXPULSION’ s unique spinner design means that it can keep spinning no matter what. Other spinners stop on impact, but EXPULSION will continue to turn, and its thicker armour (specially developed in School and never seen on Robot Wars) is so strong it can withstand machine gun fire.

The show’s judges listed EXPULSION among their ‘8 deadly bots to watch out for in series 10 of Robot Wars.’ Judge Dr Lucy Rogers said: “A very bright school team that got taught a real lesson in their group battle last series.”

“Back with a completely redesigned machine, I am looking forward to seeing what they can do with the resources and skills available to them. Team Captain Georgina is definitely a roboteer to watch out for in the future.”

Sunday’s Robot Wars battle follows a separate School robotics team’s appearance in the Chinese robot fighting television show “King of Bots” dubbed the ‘world cup’ of robot fighting shows.

The all-girl team was the only all-female and only UK school team to be invited to compete in the show which will be broadcast at the end of this year on the Chinese version of Netflix: Zhejiang Satellite Television Network.

Mr Thomas Walland, STEM Coordinator at Brentwood School, said: “I am so proud of our students. The number of students now involved in robotics is remarkable and we hope that our school’s team will further inspire students around the world to get into robotics – especially girls.”
