New Deputy Head (Academic) announced

The Chairman of Governors, Sir Michael Snyder, is delighted to announce that Mr Jonathan Barfield Moore has been appointed Deputy Head (Academic). He was selected from a strong field of long-serving Deputy Heads. Jonathan will be taking up this new appointment in September 2018. 

Jonathan attended Bablake School (an HMC co-educational 11-18 school in Coventry) where he gained 5 A levels, before progressing to read  Philosophy at Churchill College , Cambridge. He emerged with an MA  degree, completed his post –graduate teaching year in Cambridge and began his teaching career at Whitgift School in Croydon, where he became Head of Academic Enrichment and Deputy IB Director.

He joined Brentwood as Director of the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme in 2014 , and has been instrumental in improving results and increasing numbers to the extent that a third of the year group now study on the Diploma course.

Jonathan has also been in charge of admissions to the Sixth Form as a result of which applications have increased with more students than ever joining our Sixth Form from other local schools.

As many of know, Jonathan is married to Hattie who also teaches here. In his spare time he has written articles for “Philosophy Now” magazine, and lists opera and sport as his interests. Jonathan is looking forward to taking up this pivotal role in September.
