Orienteer strikes Gold in Schools’ Contest

Congratulations to Second Year pupil Emma Bowie-Britton who scooped a Gold medal at the East Anglian Schools’ Orienteering Championships at Thorndon Park last Sunday.

Thirteen-year-old Emma took the honours in the Year 7 & 8 Girls’ Individual (Yellow Course) in a time of 18mins 13secs. Fellow Brentwood School Year Two pupil Jessica Mills took the Silver medal.

First Year Theo Williams and Fifth Year Luke Cooper added to the Brentwood School Orienteering team’s medal haul. Eleven-year-old Theo took Bronze in the Year 7 & 8 Boys’ Individual (Yellow Course) and 15-year-old Luke took Bronze on the Year 11 & Above Boys’ Individual (Light Green Course).

Overall, the Brentwood team, which also included Mayukha Rodrigo, Stephanie Cooper, Sarah Prior, Kate Bowie-Britton, Robbie Woolterton, Catriona Kadirkamanathan and Hamish Kadirkamanathan, came a creditable fourth in the schools’ competition.

Our orienteers next major event will be the national junior orienteering finals in July, for which the team qualified earlier in the year.
