Orienteers Battle the Elements

Sunday’s driving snow and freezing temperatures failed to deter Brentwood School’s hardy orienteers who battled their way through deep mud at Hartswood in Brentwood.

Despite the extreme conditions, and a hidden network of paths obscured by fallen leaves, the team triumphed over adversity producing a plethora of good times.

Fourth Year Emma Bowie-Britton came in second on the 3.4km Light Green course in a time of 57:08, while younger sibling, Kate Bowie-Britton, was fastest girl on the 2.9km Orange course in a time of 41:21.

Fifteen-year-old Jessica Mills was third fastest girl on the Orange course in a time of 44:36; Sarah Prior was next home in 54:15 and Heather Trevelyan finished in a time of 82:50.

Brentwood fared well on the 2.1km Yellow course with Joshua Elsworth finishing as the second fastest boy in 33:15 and Pranita Arun Prasadh the second fastest girl in 39:42.

Not far behind Pranita was Janie Horton in a time of 39:51 and then the rest of the team: Evie Jarman (42:47); Jemima Mamelok (43:04) and Samuel Lee (51:08).

Brentwood Preparatory School Year Six pupil Jake Horton was second on the 1.6km White course in 17:21.
