Orienteers take Revision Break

Despite the threat of imminent school exams, eight members of the Brentwood School Orienteering team took part in an orienteering event at Hatfield Forest in glorious sunshine on Sunday.

Despite the heat, outstanding runs were again achieved by First Year Stephanie Cooper and her brother, Fifth Year Luke, on the yellow and light green courses respectively.

Fifteen-year-old Luke, came first on the light green 3.04km course, and 11-year-old Stephanie, came third on the 1.89km yellow course. Large numbers of deer were seen in the forest, with Stephanie declaring that they led her to one of the controls!

The other team members – First Years Theo Williams, Mayukha Rodrigo, Heather Trevelyan, and Third Year Valentin Ivanov - also finished the course panting but pleased with their times.

Eleven-year-old Kate Bowie-Britton and her 13-year-old sister, Emma, were representing the orienteering club as well as the School, and were competing against orienteering clubs from across the whole of the eastern region.

First Year Kate came 10th on the yellow course, and Second Year, Emma, came 16th on the 2.54km Orange course.
