Brentwood Preparatory School pupil and star tennis player Tahlia Ayandare can now add children’s author and Amazon Bestseller to her growing list of accolades.
Tahlia, one of Essex’s top Under 9 tennis players, wrote ‘Life of a Junior Tennis Player’ in a bid to share her love of the sport and to inspire other children keen on starting their own tennis journey.
A collective of short stories, ‘Life of a Junior Tennis Player: Stories By Children for Children’, is nine-year-old Tahlia’s first book and is already ranked #1 in the Amazon Young Adult (Racket Sports) category.
Each of the Prep Year 5 pupil’s stories gives helpful advice to other children looking to play tennis either for fun or competitively. She also explains how the support of her family and friends has helped her fledgling career and how she continues to grow.
Brentwood Prep Headmaster, Jason Whiskerd, said: “Tahlia is clearly a talented tennis player but the most gratifying element is that she has chosen to chronicle her approach to self-improvement to help others. This certainly mirrors the sentiments our School motto of Virtue, Learning, Manners and we are certainly very proud of her.’
Class teacher, Mr Edwards, echoed those sentiments: ‘Tahlia is a polite girl who gets on well with others and is very ambitious in her learning. In English, she uses grammar confidently and has a fantastic vocabulary. Tahlia is a good friend to her peers, and has a busy co-curricular life both inside and outside of School.”
After a busy summer of tournaments, Tahlia moved up the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) rankings and now regularly trains with Essex as a county player. Younger sister Teccla, who is in Year 1 at the Prep, has already been inspired by her sibling and is herself a budding tennis player.
A keen gymnast and swimmer, Tahlia has her own YouTube channel that provides a place for her to showcase her talent as well as provide updates and tips within her tennis life.
Tahlia’s book can be purchased through Amazon.
