The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) for personal achievement of young people aged 14 to 25 years is very popular with students at the School. There are currently 116 pupils involved in the Bronze Award, 60 taking Silver and 80 working towards the Gold Award.

To achieve a Gold Award, you have to complete five sections: volunteering, physical activity, a skill, a residential and the expedition. The expedition involves spending four days travelling in remote countryside with all your food and equipment. We have organised student expeditions to South Africa and Morocco as well as to parts of the UK.

  • Assessed expeditions have been rescheduled for September / October but exact dates are to be confirmed.
  • Participants are requested to check the email sent to them on 6th June.

It has been decided that the Silver assessed Duke of Edinburgh expeditions will take place on the following dates in Ashdown Forest:

  • Boys: Sun 25th - Tues 27th September 2016
  • Girls: Fri 7th - Sun 9th October 2016

The reason boys and girls have been separated is to avoid, as far as possible, clashes with existing school events.
