Congratulations to 14-year-old Toby Kidd who took bronze for England last night in the Kumite Team event at the 6th WUKF World Karate Championships held in Ireland.
Yesterday’s Dublin battle was not the first time Toby had represented England, however, it was his first visit to the world championships, and he was thrilled to pick up a bronze medal in the 14 to 15 Years category.
Toby, who is in the Third Year at Brentwood, was part of a three-man team so the pressure was really on. Mum, Faye Kidd, explained: “Toby felt under far more pressure in the team event as he did not want to let the other two team mates down. They all rely upon each other.”
She added: “I am so happy for him as he trained really hard for the competition while studying equally as hard for his end of year exams. I am pleased as it shows him that you get out what you put in. It is a valuable life lesson!”
