Hough House is a purpose-built boarding house, which caters for 47 boys, aged between 11 and 18. All boys have their own comfortable bedroom and there is also a lively communal common room in which to relax.
The House boasts excellent facilities including a common room with table tennis, pool and table football; three television rooms with Sky; carefully supervised and controlled wireless internet access; a well-equipped kitchen; and a suite of computers.
Much emphasis is placed on each individual students needs and every student is encouraged to develop new skills and fulfil their potential academically, socially and spiritually.
On a daily basis there are a range of evening activities on offer after prep (homework), which include indoor and floodlit football, golf, visiting the cinema and full use of the Courage Hall sports facilities. Other activities include trips to Alton Towers, London theatres and Christmas shopping.
Housemaster Mr Rees has taught at Brentwood School for 14 years as Head of Economics. In a previous school he worked as an assistant housemaster and has many years experience as a 2nd, 3rd and Sixth Form tutor. Outside of the classroom he is a football, rugby and cricket coach.
Housemistress Mrs Rees has been involved with the School for many years supporting Mr Rees with the organisation of sports tours, skiing and watersports trips. She has two sons who both progressed successfully through from the Preparatory school to the Senior School. Mrs Rees has a background in business (marketing and project management) and most recently she has worked as a supply teacher at two local schools.
