We value every single one of our pupils. Small class sizes and a strong pastoral care structure ensure that each child is challenged, supported and encouraged to fulfil their potential. Our pastoral care is based on form teachers with support from house staff, Matron, the Deputy Head and Headmaster. In addition to the forms, we have a vibrant house system in which pupils feel a sense of collective responsibility and share common goals. There is also an active School Council comprising pupil representatives from every form and in Year 6 all children take on a position of responsibility, which provides excellent opportunities to develop collaborative and leadership skills.
Members of the community often comment on the politeness, smartness, kindness and self confidence of our pupils. We place a high priority on good manners and moral conduct. Children earn house points for good manners and helpfulness, as well as excellent work. We believe that the school's motto, ‘Virtue, Learning and Manners' is as important now as it was when the school was founded in 1557.
Students can also develop and excel in their preferred subjects as well as learn new skills by participating in extra curricular clubs. The Preparatory School offers an extensive club system which takes place after school or in lunchtimes. There are 50 Clubs in total, including: Fencing, Basketball, Ballet, Junior Computers, Orchestra, French and Spanish to name a few.
