Most of the Preparatory School classrooms are in Middleton Hall, an eighteenth century mansion set in seventy two acres of grounds. These spacious rooms together with all teaching areas throughout the school are fitted with interactive whiteboards. The following list provides a summary of some of the facilities of the Preparatory School.
Classrooms
Twelve spacious classrooms - one for each class ‘base'.
Computer Suites
Five computer suites. There are two computer suites for the weekly ICT lessons and in both of these there are enough computers for each pupil to work individually. There is a large Music Technology room with computers linked to keyboards, which is used to teach pupils to read and write music. Further suites are located in the Design Technology room and the library.
Art Studios
Two Art Rooms, one of which contains a kiln and pottery equipment.
Deisgn Room
A Design Technology Room, including a modern kitchen for the teaching of Food Technology, and a computer suite to aid the design process.
Science Laboratory
A well equipped Science Laboratory.
Music Room
A Music School, with a Music classroom, Music Technology Room and seven Music Practice Rooms.
Drama Studio
A large Drama Studio with props, costumes and recording and filming facilities.
Language Room
A French room where French is taught to all pupils.
Library/Quiet Room
A library and ‘Quiet Room', both original rooms of Middleton Hall. The two rooms now provide beautiful and tranquil areas for pupils to study and relax, with plenty of books and resources and a computer suite to aid research work.
School Hall
A traditional school hall. This hall has a grand piano, staging and professionally fitted light and sound systems for theatrical productions as well as plenty of sports equipment for PE lessons. The hall is also used for assemblies.
Dining Hall
A Dining Hall where a selection of hot and cold lunches is served each day.
Sports Facilities
• Many acres of sports pitches and three netball/tennis courts; these are used exclusively by Preparatory School pupils.
• The Preparatory School pupils also make good use of some of the excellent facilities of Brentwood School Sports Centre, including the 25m indoor swimming pool, sports hall, fencing sale and squash courts. The School's all-weather floodlight pitch and athletics track are also used regularly.
Chapel
Each term, Preparatory School Chapel Services are held in the School's beautiful Chapel, which was built in 1867. These services are led by the School's Chaplain.
