We aim to provide for the individual needs of all our pupils, and have a particular strategy for stretching the able.
In the 1st Form, while pupils are still acclimatising to Senior School, gifted pupils are encouraged to stretch themselves informally, through extra reading, current affairs and visits to museums.
In the 2nd Form, there is a Headmaster's Award, which consists of six challenges for pupils to undertake:
- a subject challenge
- participation in a charity fundraising event
- reading a book
- giving a presentation
- developing a sport or skill
- undertaking a trip or visit with an educational link.
This is a voluntary scheme, which is inclusive, and open to the whole year group.
In the 3rd Form, and until GCSE, the Junior Sir Antony Browne Society (SABS) addresses a range of interests and subjects. This leads on to the intellectually varied and demanding SABS, for Sixth Formers. This Society exists to provide a forum for intellectual discussion and cultural interest and aims to encompass as wide a range of disciplines as possible: MPs' lectures, an art critic, BBC executives, visits to plays and concerts, and debates are all part of the varied programme.
Talented pupils are encouraged to extend their talents through special groups and teams, with activities organised both in and outside school during term time and holidays.
