The majority of pupils join the Preparatory School at the beginning of Year 3, aged 7, although there are usually a few places available at the beginning of Years 4, 5 and 6. All prospective pupils are required to sit assessments in English and Mathematics, in the February of the year they wish to join the school. These tests are based on the appropriate age-related topics in the National Curriculum, which the children should have covered at school, and therefore no special practice papers are necessary. However, the below 'Entrance Examination Information' PDF (below) gives some guidance as to the types of questions which may be asked. All the Entrance Tests are taken in small groups, in an informal environment where every effort is made to put the children at ease and make the experience enjoyable.
To apply for a place, please complete a registration form and send it, together with a £45 non-returnable registration fee, to Mrs Pam Sheridan, The Preparatory School Secretary, Brentwood Preparatory School, Middleton Hall Lane, Brentwood CM15 8EQ.
