A ‘cut the ribbon' ceremony took place on Sunday 6th June at Brentwood School Sports Centre, where former England football player and Sky Sports commentator Tony Cottee, and the Mayor of Brentwood and Old Brentwood, David Tee officially opened the new reception area.
Both pupils and the local community can now benefit from vastly improved facilities including a brand new reception area and changing rooms. Mayor of Brentwood, David Tee commented, "Being a former pupil of Brentwood School, I am particularly proud to open the new reception and extremely pleased that both current and future pupils of the school can now benefit from such wonderful facilities. This is an exceptional development for Brentwood School."
The Sports Centre has extensively upgraded its changing facilities resulting in new flooring, showers and toilet cubicle areas, as well as improved airflow throughout. In addition, changes have created a larger and more modern reception area for use by the Sports Centre, pupils and visitors to the school. The new reception area is part of an improvements program to insure greater security for pupils attending the school.

Sky Sports commentator Tony Cottee commented "My daughter is currently at Brentwood School and I am so pleased that she can benefit from the new facilities in place. I want to thank the school for inviting me to officially open the new reception together with the Mayor of Brentwood, it is a great honour."
The day also included the Vintage Vogue Fashion Fair in the Courage Hall and a Celebrity Cricket Match in aid of Brain Tumour UK on the Brentwood School fields where team players included Graham Hick, Ray Parlour, Lloyd Honeyghan, Christian Dailly and Jeff Thomson.
Brentwood School Sports Centre is shortlisted as an Olympic training camp for the 2012 Olympics for Modern Pentathlon.
