Christmas came early to Brentwood School this week. Around 30 residents from local residential care homes enjoyed a festive tea party in the pleasant surroundings of Old Big School at Brentwood School.

The annual tradition is organised by CSU (Community Service Unit) students from the Fourth and Fifth years and Sixth Formers.

Some of the pupils made table decorations and Christmas cards, while the Sixth Formers served drinks during the Christmas lunch.

The guests were also treated to Christmas carols and a Junior Boys Barbershop performance and a rhyming production of the Christmas Carol.

Other CSU activities by Brentwood School pupils include raising money for their chosen charities (this year they are focusing on charities for the homeless) sports coaching in other schools and charity shop work.

Head of CSU, Jagdeep Khush, explained: "The pupils visit local homes on Friday afternoons to chat or play cards with the residents and just be a companion. It helps them relate to people of different ages. This tea party is a nice way for the guests to get out and meet other people."
