Over the past three years Brentwood School's CCF Army Cadets have undertaken fundraising activities to support local causes by bag packing at Sainsbury's.  This year the cadets took time out on a Saturday to help local shoppers and raised a total of £1310.   The money raised this year will be split between two excellent causes; Help for Heroes, a charity that helps wounded Servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq and St. Luke's Hospice in Basildon, who provide specialist care for people and their loved ones suffering from an advanced disease. 

The pupil's packed bags of shopping for 5 hours from 9:00am to 2:00pm, with only a 15 minute break.  The pupils thoroughly enjoyed it and were very well received by the staff of Sainsbury's and by the public they were helping. 

The pupils wore their CCF Army uniforms during the day and people took time to talk to the cadets and congratulate them on a good job they were doing for such worthy causes. 

The students put is a great deal of effort and were in good spirits throughout the day.

Mr David Crane, the CCF School Staff Instructor, who co-ordinated the fundraising activities commented, "This is the third year in a row we have done this fundraising activity and it has steadily increased in the amount raised; £850 the first year, just under £1000 the second and 1310 this year.  I would like to thank Sainsbury's for allowing us into their store and the people of Brentwood for their generous donations".
