D of E Expedition to the Peak District
09 April 2008
Congratulations to the Gold Duke of Edinburgh students who successfully took part in an expedition to the Peak District this Easter. 25 lower sixth form pupils and 6 staff took part in the expedition to the Peak District. The pupils camped initially near Edale and walked the first part of the Pennine Way from Edale to Crowden where they camped for their second night. On their second day's walking they reached Langsett and then on the last day they completed a circle, finishing by walking along the Derwentwater Reservoir, used during the Second World War to train pilots for the famous ‘Dam-busters' raid. Throughout the trip the pupils were self-sufficient, carrying their own tents, food, spare clothing stoves and food.
