On 22nd January Brentwood School's 1st XI played John Hampden Grammar School in the last 32 of the English Schools Football Cup.
The English Schools Cup is a competition that takes place annually, and the Brentwood School team never thought that they would get this far, having started playing in the tournament in September when there were still 636 schools in the running. Coach Ian Wignall commented "to get to the last 16 schools is an excellent achievement and is down to all of their hard work and training".
The players were outstanding in the first half leading 3-0 at half time before eventually running out 5-2 winners. Student Rob Edkins scored 4 goals including a goal of the season contender with Matt Lowman also getting on the scoresheet.
The Brentwood School first XI now play Denbigh High School, Milton Keynes in the last 16.
