Hardy Amies Design Centre Summer Exhibition 2008

16 June 2008

A trompe l'oeil painted wooden bench and some stunning ceramic vases were amongst some of the artwork on display at Brentwood School's Summer Exhibition last week.

This year's Summer Exhibition took place on Friday, 13th June and saw the new Brentwood Mayor, Dudley Payne as the Guest of Honour in the Hardy Amies Design Centre at Brentwood School.  The exhibition showcased a culmination of a year's work by hundreds of Art, Design & Technology and ICT pupils.  There were many examples of final GCSE and A-Level art examination pieces. Displays included artwork, architectural models, ceramics and digital photography; there were also competitions that pupils took part in including the House cooking competition, which Jack Denman won for North House.

There were plenty of activities to do on the evening such as drawing, making robots out of Lego, Design & Technology activities and a Nintendo Wii, which the Chairman of Governors practiced his Tennis skills on!

The Hardy Amies Design Centre was named after past pupil Sir Hardy Amies, couturier to Her Majesty the Queen and designer of the Brentwood School girl's stylish uniform.  Mr. Graham Kiff, Director of the centre commented: "The Summer Exhibition is always a great success, enjoyable for students and visitors alike. This year is particularly exciting because the standard of work is extremely high. Year on year, the graphic products and art work keep improving."
