This year the Michaelmas Orchestral Concert was a wonderful event featuring Brentwood School's infamous Big Band, The Junior Choir, The Chamber Choir, The Symphony Orchestra, The String Orchestra and the pleasant surprise item ‘BoBo'.
All students who took part in this term's concert worked extremely hard to create an excellent and engaging evening. The entertainment included a variety of performances including; Hawaii Five-O by the Big Band, Elton John's ‘Your Song' sung by vocalist Ben George and two excellent saxophone and clarinet solos by Ryan Sees.
An exciting new addition to the concert was the BoBo Barbershop singing group who were highly entertaining and brought an upbeat and fun atmosphere to the evening. Although BoBo were new for most attendees, there has been a strong tradition of Barbershop singing dating back to the 1960's when the very first Brentwood School recording was released on LP.
To end the concert the Symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Pickthall, performed a magical version of ‘An American Symphony' from "Mr. Holland's Opus".
This week has seen the release of Brentwood School's Big Band's latest CD, the 14th to date. Please visit the Big Band website below to purchase a copy and to find out further details on the band and its international activities.
