Brentwood School swimmers are celebrating being the overall Mid Essex Relay Swimming Champions for the 4th year running. This is the 6th year that the boys have won overall and the 3rd year that the girls have won overall.
The competition for years 10, 11, 12 and 13 was hosted at Brentwood School and the junior years competition (years 7, 8 and 9) were hosted at William de Ferrers School.
The boys won swimming relays for years 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13 contributing to their overall win and year 12 and 13 boys won for their sixth consecutive year. This is testament to such great training facilities, as well as an in house coach, Mrs Carol Melvin who is in her seventh year at the school and since joining has transformed swimming at Brentwood School and increased interest.
The boys' team captain, Tom Bolatch commented "I had very high hopes for our team, who had trained intensively throughout the autumn term in preparation for the competition. Our wins for the boys' team were thoroughly deserved as we all worked so hard for them."
Swimming Coach Carol Melvin commented: "This is another fantastic achievement. The swimmers success is all due to the hard work they put in at lunch times, after school and in the early morning training sessions when they are at the pool from 6.45am! Even at that time in the morning they work extremely hard. An overall outstanding performance, I am very proud to be their swimming coach."
