New Praepostors took part in a two-day session to enhance their team-building and leadership skills. The Learning to Earning and the Personal Skills Journey workshops will help to prepare them for their new roles in the School, as well as improve skills for their future workplaces. "The business environment is becoming ever more competitive, and having the right skills at the earliest opportunity provides young people with a real advantage," explained Andy Carley, who led the sessions.
Day 1 focused on "the individual", encouraging participants to understand the power that their own personal image (their personal brand) can have on their success. Leading on from this, Day 2, recognised that an individual cannot operate in this world alone, and focused on TLC:
Teamwork
Leadership and
Communication.
The programme went very well. The students and staff were fully engaged, receptive and prepared to throw themselves into the challenges presented.
The sessions formed part of a series of activities for the Praes, including a Chapel Service and Dinner. "These all provide chances for them to start working with each other, sharing duties, and getting to know fellow Praes who they may not have mixed with before," explained Katie Beston, Head of Sixth Form.
