SABS discuss Israeli-Arab relations
23 March 2009
Pictured above: Rob Little, new SABS Chairman, Naira Antoun, CAABU, Robin Hamilton-Taylor, Israeli Embassy and Clare Luxton This week the Sir Antony Browne Society (SABS) had the opportunity to meet with Robin Hamilton-Taylor from the Israeli Embassy and Naira Antoun from The Council for Arab-British Understanding (CAABU) The speakers explained the Israeli and Palestinian viewpoints on Israeli-Arab relations. There was then a lively period of searching questions from students to both the speakers who responded with well-informed answers. The tensions of the Middle East situation and difficulty of reconciling different views were obvious in the discussion. Both The Council for Arab-British Understanding and the Israeli Embassy give talks at schools as part of their education services across the country, aimed at addressing widespread misconceptions. This discussion gave the pupils an insight into the current Iraq and Palestine debate.
