The Guest of Honour at Brentwood School's Speech Day this year was, Mr Tim Gardam, Principal of St Anne's College, Oxford.

The Chairman of Governors' Mr Colin Finch welcomed those attending and invited pupils Olivia Murphy and Isabel Cooper to give the Latin speech of welcome to Mr Tim Gardam.  The Headmaster of Brentwood School, Mr Ian Davies, then gave his report of the year which celebrated the achievements of pupils both in the classroom, on the sports field, in extra-curricular activities and in charitable work.  Mr Davies reflected on the excellent examination results of the previous summer and added "Our first year of results for the International Baccalaureate placed us as the leading IB school in Essex, and 23^rd in the country, based on the Financial Times League Table".

Mr Tim Gardam was then invited to present the prizes and give his address.  He spoke about his school days, being an academic and he congratulated all of the pupils for succeeding in a "bewildering array of activities".

Head of School, Alex Quigley proposed the vote of thanks on behalf of the school, thanking Mr Tim Gardam for his wise counsel and the school for the opportunities that it provides.  Alex took the opportunity to thank his Praepostors publicly for all of their support in the past year and added some advice to all the prize winning pupils that were listening, "Last year I remember attending Speech Day and listening to the Head of School give his speech.  My final year at school has passed by in a flash; make sure you cherish your time at Brentwood School."

When the formalities were concluded, guests were invited to have tea in the schools dining halls and later that evening enjoyed the Summer Promenade Concert.
