6,862 lengths, 171,550 metres and 107.2 miles was the total distance swam this year at the annual sponsored swim organised by swimming Coach Mrs Melvin. This is the longest distance ever swam at a Brentwood School swimathon and would take the children all the way from Brentwood to France. There was an alternative water polo match and a number of outstanding achievers including the following;
James Kidd (1ST) completed 2 miles in 1 hour
Coach Mrs Melvin said;
"This was a fantastic achievement as he swam the entire 2 miles butterfly. This was a joy to watch, probably not too joyful for James. James climbed out of the pool smiling, as always. Well Done James"
Tom Davis (2P) and Max Offord (2P) completed 3 miles each
Stephen Woodford (2MT) and James Thorpe (2MS) completed 4 miles each
They then continued to compete in the league gala, Brentwood School v Moulsham!
Folakemi Ademugba (4BSG) completed 3.62 miles
Mrs Melvin said;
"This is a brilliant achievement. Three years ago in the sponsored swim for the Spinal Injuries Association Folakemi completed 50 metres, she now swims regularly during lunch times, games and after school. Her commitment shows in what she has managed to complete this year. Well done an excellent achievement."
Hannah O'Neill (5EG) completed 6 miles in 2 hours 45 minutes
This is the longest distance that any pupil has completed.
Lewis Judd (L6GMG) and Kaz Melvin (L6CML) completed 3 miles in total
This was achieved in relay format with Lewis swimming 50 metre sprints freestyle, completing 1 mile and Kaz swimming 100 metre sprints freestyle completing 2 miles.
