We are pleased to announce that our U13s Cricket Team have won the Bunbury Under 13 National Cup final, held on Friday 11^th July at Oundle School, beating Manchester Grammar School by 8 wickets.

Manchester won the toss and elected to bat on a very good wicket. Throughout their innings they scored consistently at 6 an over against Brentwood's quicker bowlers. However, they struggled against the leg spin of Rehan Hassan (2 for 15) and James Bowler (0 for 20) and this tight bowling proved crucial, restricting Manchester to 172 for 5 off their 35 overs.

Brentwood scored even quicker against the Manchester seam bowlers and all it needed was one of the batsmen to bat through the innings. Captain, Mark Baldock, a boarder at Brentwood School, did this with power and control. He shared partnerships of 70 with Rehan Hassan, 38 with Kishen Velani, and an unbroken 65 with Elliot Lee as Brentwood eased to victory in the 26th over. He was able to accelerate towards the end to reach a deserved 103 not out of only 62 balls.

Mark Baldock played a superb game, scoring a century and receiving the man of the match award. Baldock follows a line of successful boarding sportsmen at Brentwood School.

The school has been featured highly, nationally within the U13s category this year.  The U13s Football Team won the National Independent Schools Football Association Champions in March and Brentwood School are currently National Champions in Senior Girls Tennis and Fencing.

The final score was Manchester Grammar 172 Brentwood School 174 for 2. The U13s Cricket Team features five of the best cricketers in the country for their age group.
