Brentwood School's pupils in West House have been fundraising all week by arranging various creative events, including; a Cake Sale, a sweet stall, a Fun Run, a Penalty Shoot Out and collecting donations in fancy dress as wizards and fairies. The events have been planned and conducted completely by the pupils and all of the money raised will be donated to the Make-A-Wish foundation and SNAP.
The pupils in West House chose to support Make-A-Wish which grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. They also chose to support local charity SNAP (Special Needs And Parents) that helps Essex families who have children aged 0-25 years with special needs and disabilities, two very worthy causes.
A cake sale took place in break times and have been a complete success, becoming sold out within minutes, by hungry pupils. There were an array of delicious cakes, biscuits and brownies all made by the students themselves.
Brentwood School collectively helped to raise over £40,000 for charity last year and the school would like to beat that record this academic year. The school takes its charitable commitment seriously and pupils, staff and parents have supported a number of good causes, both locally nationally and internationally.
Headmaster of Brentwood School, Mr Ian Davies, commented, "I am very proud of our pupils, parents and staff for their hard work in organising and supporting the many charitable activities which take place at the school each year. It is important that children of today are encouraged to give something back to the community and charitable giving is one of the values that we hope to foster amongst our pupils from an early age".
