Brentwood School and Brain Tumour UK would like to invite the community to a Celebrity Cricket Match on Sunday, 6th June 2010 at Brentwood School.
Brentwood School will be hosting the event in honour of two of its former pupils to raise money for Brain Tumour UK. Old Brentwoods Richard and Robert Payne, two of a family of four brothers who attended Brentwood School in the 40s, 50s and 60s, died within five years of each other. Since their deaths, their brother Jeremy Payne has become chairman of the charity Brain Tumour UK which supports those affected by brain tumours.
A cricket XI team led by former England bowler Alan Igglesden, who suffers from a brain tumour himself and is lead patron for the charity, will meet the Bunburys' Celebrity XI in a match on the school cricket field.
The Bunbury XI is in its 24th season and draws on a pool of players and to date the celebrity team has confirmed well known sportsmen such as Darren Gough, Graham Hick, Lloyd Honeyghan and Jeff Thomson playing alongside household names such as Tom Chaplin, the lead singer of rock band Keane. Alan Igglesden has also lined up other great sportsmen who include Tony Cottee, Christian Dailly and Arnie Sidebottom.
Brentwood School is proud to be presenting the match and the general public are invited to attend. The day will be fun for the whole family and entertainment alongside the cricket match will include a bouncy castle, face painting, Pimm's tent and refreshments. Tickets are payable on the gate and are £5 for adults and free for children under 16.
