Former Head of Brentwood School, Alex Quigley (age 18), his brother and current pupil James (age 16) and their parents recently climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Georgia's Teenage Cancer Appeal and The Teenage Cancer Trust.
The Quigley brothers chose to raise money for these good causes following the sad death of fellow Brentwood School pupil Georgia Cordery in May 2010. They booked the trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania around the time that Georgia passed away and dedicated their climb to her and set a fundraising target of £2,000 for each cancer charity.
The Quigley family, from Hornchurch, started training at the gym three times a week three months prior to the climb. They began their 19,334ft climb above sea level on 7th August. The climb took five days to reach the top and one and a half days to come back down the mountain, both Brentwood School boys successfully made it to the top.

Alex commented, "This is a magnificent achievement and the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. It all comes down to mental attitude and harmless sibling rivalry; if James was going to make it to the top, so was I!"
To date the family have raised approximately £4,000 pounds for the two charities, but would welcome further donations. If Old Brentwoods or Friends of Brentwood School are interested in donating, please visit www.justgiving.com/Alex-Quigley.
