15 Pupils for 15 Years

We are delighted that this year 15 students in the Upper Sixth will be completing their 15th year at Brentwood School.  They were among those in the first ever nursery classes at Brentwood Pre-Preparatory School when it opened in 1995.  To celebrate these pupils' commitment to the school we have included information about each one of them, below.  We would like to congratulate them on this achievement.

Ryan Barrell
Currently Studying:
  Politics, Psychology and Biology at A Level and I plan to study Politics with Arabic & Islamic Studies at Exeter University.
Extra-curricular Achievements: I am a Senior Praepostor and a member of the Sir Antony Browne Society, Community Service Unit, Model United Nations and Public Speaking Team. I also enjoy sport and music and play for the school rugby team, sing for the Choral Society and have achieved grade 5 for the Bass Guitar.  I have recently co-directed a film entitled ‘My Beirut' to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Examination Results: At GCSE level I achieved 2 A*s, 5 As and 3 B grades and I am predicted 2 As and a B at A Level.
Favourite Memory: My favourite memory is performing in Siena on the music trip and taking part in the Sixth Form Charity Show.  I have also made so many good friends in my 15 years at Brentwood.

Oliver Brooks
Currently Studying:
  Business Studies, Psychology and P.E. at A Level and I plan to study Sports Science at University.
Extra-curricular Achievements: I am Captain of the Rugby 1st XV and I am a Petty Officer in the Navy section of the CCF.
Examination Results: At GCSE level I obtained 1 A*, 2 As, 5 Bs and 1 C grade and I am predicted 2 As and 1 C grade at A Level.
Greatest Achievement:  Being awarded the 1st XV rugby captaincy and captaining the first undefeated 1st XV Rugby tour to Italy.

Oliver Cross
Currently Studying:
  Spanish, Music and English at A Level and I plan to study Music with Spanish as a joint degree at Royal Holloway University. 
Extra-curricular Achievements: I am a keen musician and enjoy being a part of the String, Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, the Big Band, Choral Society and I have taken part in various musical theatre productions over the years. I also regularly play squash and football for the school.
Examination Results: At GCSE level I gained 2 A*s, 2 As, 5 Bs and 1 C grade.  At A Level I am predicted 1 A, 1 B and 1 C grade.
Greatest Achievement: Winning the ‘Best Solo Performance' prize in the House Music Competition.

Samuel Henderson
Currently Studying:
  Business Studies, Psychology and History at A Level.  I plan to go on to study Business Management at Loughborough University.
Extra-curricular Achievements: I enjoy sport and I am a member of the senior football team.  I was also a member of the Army section in the CCF and was Corporal in the 3rd and 5th Year.
Examination Results: I received 10 GCSEs all at A* - B grades and I am expecting to achieve 2 As and 1 B at A Level.
Greatest Achievement: I am most proud of my GCSE examination results.

Harry King
Currently Studying:  Business Studies, Psychology and Biology at A Level and I plan to read Business Management at Kent University. Extra-curricular Achievements: I am an enthusiastic sportsman and play for the school cricket team, football team and golf team.  I am also currently completing my Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award.
Examination Results: At GCSE level I achieved 1 A*, 3 As and 7 B grades.  At A Level I am predicted 2 Bs and 1 C grade.
Greatest Achievement: My GCSE results.

Ben Leigh
Currently Studying:  English, Philosophy & Ethics and P.E. at A Level.  I hope to go on to study Philosophy at Exeter University.
Extra-curricular Achievements: I enjoy golf and I am captain of the school golf team and play golf for the County U18 team.  This year I also won the House table tennis competition.  I have enjoyed music at the school and attained grade 4 for both the saxophone and classical guitar and grade 3 for the clarinet.
Examination Results: At GCSE level I achieved 1 A*, 3 As and 6 B grades and I am predicted 3 As at A Level.
Greatest Achievement: Receiving my AS Level results (2 As and 1 B).  My favourite memory of the school will be the Summer Ball.

Emma MacNish Porter
Currently Studying:  Latin, Greek and English at A Level and I plan to go on to study at Nottingham University.
Extra-curricular Achievements:  I enjoy music at the school and I have now gained grade 4 for the flute.   I enjoy outdoor pursuits and have gained my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award.  I also reached Leading Seaman rank in the Navy section of the CCF.
Examination Results: At GCSE level I achieved 5 A*s and 5 As and I am predicted 2 As and 1 B grade at A Level.
Greatest Achievement: Winning the chariot race at Sports Day in 2001.

Grace O'Connell
Currently Studying:
  Mathematics, Latin, Chemistry and Biology at A Level and I plan to study Medicine at Keele University.
Extra-curricular Achievements: I have enjoyed fencing at Brentwood and I have fenced internationally for Great Britain at U17, U20 and Senior Level.  I was British U20 Sabre Champion in 2009 and won the UK School Games in 2008.  I also play GK position for the 1st VII netball team.   I enjoy raising money for charity and work voluntarily for the local charity SNAP in my spare time.
Examination Results: 9 A*s and 1 A grade at GCSE level and I am predicted 4 As at A Level.
Greatest Achievement:  Winning the British U20 Sabre National Championships in Fencing when I was 16 and representing Great Britain at two world championships whilst studying for my GCSE's.

Henry Owers
Currently Studying:
  Business Studies, Geography and Design Technology at A Level and I plan to study Event Management at Leeds Metropolitan University.
Extra-curricular Achievements: I enjoy playing sport and play on the 1st XV rugby team and 1st XI cricket team.  I am a Senior Praepostor and I am also currently working towards my Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
Examination Results: I received 9 A-C grades at GCSE level and I am predicted 3 Cs at A Level.
Favourite Memory:  Winning an important cricket match in 2008 and putting 150 runs on with Aaron West to win the game. I also really enjoyed the South Africa and Barbados Cricket Tours.  

Oliver Shelmerdine
Currently Studying:
  Economics, Biology and History at A Level and I plan to go on to study Physiotherapy at Brighton University.
Extra-curricular Achievements: I am captain of the 2nd XI football team, and was the Athletics District Champion in 2007.  I also work for the charity BOSP (Brighter Opportunities through Supported Play) in my spare time.
Examination Results: At GCSE level I gained 8 As and 2 B grades and I am expecting 1 A, 1 B and 1 C at A Level.
Greatest Achievements: I am very proud of my sporting achievements at Brentwood and the friends I've made.

Alexander Tai
Currently Studying: The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, in which I study History, Geography and Spanish at Higher Level and Biology, Mathematics and English at Standard Level.  I hope to study Law at Birmingham University. 
Extra-curricular Achievements: I am very involved in the wider life at the school and fence for Great Britain.  I enjoy music and drama, I play the clarinet to grade 6 and I am in the Pheonix Youth Orchestra.  I have also been awarded my Silver Award for Drama in the LAMDA programme.   I like outdoor pursuits and I am working towards my Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award and recently climbed Snowdonia as part of it.  In the Army section of the CCF I am Head of the REME.
Examination Results: At GCSE level I attained 5 A*s, 4 As and 1 B grade and I am predicted to achieve 36 IB points. 
Favourite Memory: Winning the House Music Ensemble Cup.

Rachelle Warrington
Currently Studying: I am currently studying Biology, Chemistry, History and Mathematics at AS Level and I would like to study History at University.
Extra-curricular Achievements: I am a Sergeant in the RAF section of the CCF and a member of the peer mentoring committee.  I am also a keen musician and I play the violin and the piano to grade 7.
Examination Results: At GCSE level I received 1 A*, 8 As and 3 B grades.
Favourite Memory:  I have many fond memories of my excellent teachers at Brentwood School.  They have helped me to achieve my very best and what I accomplish in the future will never be mine alone.

Tom Watkins
Currently Studying:  Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Art at A Level and I plan on studying Mathematics at Warwick University.
Extra-curricular Achievements: I enjoyed playing for the 1st XV rugby team in the 5th Year.  I am the Brentwoodian Magazine designer and I received a distinction for my work.  I enjoy art and my GCSE art examination was in the top 10 entries in the country, out of 36,000 applicants.  I am also Head of West House and have been heavily involved in planning numerous events during West House charity week.
Examination Results:  At GCSE level I gained 9 A*s and 1 A grade and I am predicted 4 A grades at A Level.
Greatest Achievement: Receiving an Academic Scholarship in the senior school was a great achievement and I was very proud to be selected as Head of West House.

Stephanie Whitfield
Currently Studying:  Mathematics, Psychology and P.E at A Level and I hope to go on to study Sports Science at Bath University.
Extra-curricular Achievements: I enjoy sport and I am captain of the 1st VII netball team and I play for the school hockey team.  I enjoy being in the Army section of the CCF.
Examination Results:  At GCSE level I achieved 1 A*, 6 As and 1 B grade and I am predicted 3 As at A Level.
Greatest Achievement: My greatest achievement was reaching the National Netball Finals in 2008.

Charlie Williams
Currently Studying:  Business Studies, Economics and German at A Level.  I plan to go on to study Economics at Sheffield University.
Extra-curricular Achievements: I enjoy playing golf and I am a keen musician. I play classical guitar to grade 6 and the drums to grade 4.  Last year I won the Business Studies Prize at Speech Day.
Examination Results: At GCSE level I attained 2 A*s, 6 As and 2 B grades and I am predicted 2 As and 1 B grade at A Level.
Favourite Memory: Going to Germany as part of the German exchange.
