Brentwood Pre-Preparatory School Year two pupils were working with Road safety officers from Brentwood Council last week. The children completed a variety of tasks and were shocked by their findings.
They totalled the number of different vehicles that passed by in twenty minutes and looked in cars to observe distractions to drivers. The children found a surprising number of drivers smoked, ate or used mobile phones. Pupils were especially shocked by observing drivers not wearing seat belts.
Finally the Year 2 children created a tally chart to show the speeds of passing traffic. The children will now use the acquired data to create graphs in ICT and Maths lessons to show their findings.
Pre-Preparatory School teacher, Nicky Osborn commented, "The children were surprised by the bad habits of some drivers and are looking forward to creating graphs in class to present their results from the day."
