Nursery children at Brentwood Pre-Preparatory School provided an endearing performance to their teachers and parents this week in the annual "Chatterbox Challenge".
Parents saw their children sing and dance along to this year's theme, "Learn with rhyme and Help Children Shine". The children had prepared a variety of chatterbox activities including singing rhymes, reciting poems, using instruments and following instructions which they performed to their parents. The nursery-rhymes included classics such as "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" as well as the modern parody, "Hickory Digital Clock"!
The project also provided an opportunity for parents to donate money to the I CAN Charity which helps young children who have communication disabilities. I CAN provides a combination of specialist therapy and education for children with the most severe and complex disabilities, information for parents and training and advice for teachers and other professionals.
The Headmistress of Brentwood Pre-Preparatory School, Mrs Wilson, commented, "The nursery children have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the Chatterbox Challenge. It has enabled them to demonstrate their ability to communicate and to actively take part in raising funds for the I CAN charity. Communication is a key area of a child's development and it is especially important in the early years. Our parents' generosity will help I CAN to raise awareness and support for children and families affected by this issue."
