Brentwood Preparatory School Gymnastics Team recently won the Essex Gym County Championships for the 6th year in a row, a record no other school has ever achieved. To win the County Final is a fantastic achievement and to win it 6 times in succession is quite outstanding. Brentwood Prep boys were also placed second which shows the exceptional quality in both Brentwood gymnasts and also their coach, Mrs Woodford, who should be justly proud.
Mrs Woodford, Head of PE at the Brentwood Preparatory School has taught at the Prep for 20 years and every day before school she coaches swimming or gymnastics, and regularly teaches at lunchtimes and after school clubs. Her gymnastic team have been nationally ranked and her swimming and cross country teams are as usual this year unbeaten. Mrs Woodford also won the ‘Contribution to Sport Award' in the Brentwood Gazette Sports Awards in 2009.
Mike Arnold, Chairman & Competition Organiser of the Essex Schools Gymnastics Association wrote to Mrs Woodford to say, "Your gymnasts are such lovely children being friendly, polite and respectful but full of determination."
Mrs Woodford commented "I am so pleased with the girls, who were all willing to give up their free time to work towards this event. Our pupils all wanted to practise before school and during their lunchtimes which helped improve their skills and as a result they all performed wonderfully on the day. This is a tremendous achievement and I am very proud of them."
We would like to say congratulations on the teams great successes at the Essex Gym Final and wish them good luck at the Nationals in May.
