Brentwood Preparatory School's annual Prize Giving and Sports Day took place on Saturday 21st June.  The Guest of  Honour was Mr Richard Evans who is currently Headmaster at St. Andrews School in Woking and was an inspector at the Brentwood Preparatory ISI Inspection in February of this year.  Mr Ian Davies, the Headmaster of Brentwood School welcomed the pupils, staff and guests and introduced, Mr Nigel Helliwell, the Headmaster of Brentwood Preparatory School.  Mr Helliwell presented his report for the year and spoke of the many successes that the pupils have achieved academically, for music, drama and art, on the sports field and in charitable giving.  He praised the pupils' commitment, concern for others and the good example that they have set.  He thanked the staff and governors for their support in the past academic year, and thanked those who had personally helped him and his wife Jane.  He looked forward to many new developments at the school including an increase in investment of the Preparatory Library with the introduction of a Librarian from September.

Mr Evans was invited to present the pupils with their prizes and this year's school leavers with their certificates and dictionaries donated from the Friends of Brentwood before giving his address.  He spoke of the warm reception that he received from pupils and staff when he came to Brentwood Preparatory School for four days in February to inspect the school.  He spoke very highly of his experience at the Preparatory school and reiterated that the Prep is successful in achieving its aims of providing a first class education for all its pupils. The vote of thanks was given by this year's Public Speaking Competition winner, Kathryn Waring.

When the formal proceedings were over, the pupils, parents and guests were invited to partake of light refreshments at Middleton Hall and to view displays, exhibitions and examples of the pupils' work over the past year.  Guests were entertained by musicians in the stable yard, a gymnastics display in the hall, a dance display and fencing demonstrations.

Parents then watched their sons and daughters take part in the school sports day in the afternoon.  The prizes were presented by The Guest of Honour Roger Gray.

The Headmaster of Brentwood Preparatory School commented, "This has been an outstanding year for the pupils at Brentwood Preparatory School, it has been a privilege to celebrate and reward their success at this year's Prize Giving.  I am very proud of the pupils' achievements and I would like to thank the staff and parents for their continued support as the school looks towards the future with confidence."
