Brentwood Preparatory School's annual Prize Giving, Open Morning and Sports Day took place on Saturday 19th June. The Guest of Honour was Mrs. Jenny Jones, Brentwood School Governor and former Headmistress of Ipswich Preparatory School. Mr. Ian Davies, the Headmaster of Brentwood School welcomed the pupils, staff and guests and introduced, Mr. Nigel Helliwell, the Headmaster of Brentwood Preparatory School. Mr. Helliwell presented his report for the year and spoke of the many successes that the pupils have achieved academically, for music, drama and art, on the sports field and in charitable giving. He praised the pupils' commitment, concern for others and the good example that they set. He thanked the staff and governors for their support in the past academic year and thanked his wife Jane. He spoke about the confidence that the pupils show, saying that "education should be more than just tests and at Brentwood Preparatory School pupils receive an excellent all round education." Mr. Helliwell also looked forward to the many new developments at the school, announcing a brand new ICT suite and extra teaching room which is being built this summer and will be ready for use by the beginning of next term.
Mrs. Jones was invited to present the pupils with their prizes and this year's school leavers with their certificates and dictionaries donated from the Friends of Brentwood School before, giving her address. She spoke of the warm reception she receives from both the pupils and staff at the Preparatory School and reiterated to the pupils how privileged they are to attend such a wonderful school. The vote of thanks was given by this year's Public Speaking Competition winner, Thomas Smalley.

When the formal proceedings were over, the pupils, parents and guests were invited for refreshments at Middleton Hall and to view displays, exhibitions and examples of the pupils' work over the past year. Guests were entertained by musicians in the stable yard, pizza making in the Design & Technology room, a gymnastics and dance display in the hall, a giant chess board in the playground and tennis on the courts. Parents then watched their sons and daughters take part in the school sports day in the afternoon. The prizes were presented by The Guest of Honour Mrs. Jones.
The Headmaster of Brentwood Preparatory School commented, "This has been an outstanding year for the pupils at Brentwood Preparatory School. It has been a privilege to celebrate and reward their success at this year's Prize Giving. I am very proud of the pupils' achievements and I would like to thank the staff and parents for their continued support as the school looks towards the future with confidence."
