Growing

The Sixth Form years are the most exciting and inspiring phase of your school education. Brentwood Sixth Form is a community of around 340 students that is warm and down-to-earth. We encourage students to have a broad range of interests no matter what your specialism, and alongside academic studies we help you develop self-discipline, communication and leadership skills.

We provide inspiring and focused teaching in an environment enjoying top level facilities across all subjects. You will be taught to maximise your natural talents through self-discipline and creativity. There is a wide choice of subjects, whether you want to follow ‘A’ Levels or the International Baccalaureate (IB) and we support any combination of options to suit your individual strengths or areas of interest. Academic progress is carefully monitored – and this shows in the excellent results our students achieve year on year. You will have a personal tutor who keeps track of both your academic and pastoral care.

Student life centres on a purpose-built Sixth Form building where there are state-of the-art classrooms, a fully-equipped computer suite and the Wessex Auditorium seating 400 people. These sit alongside common rooms, private study areas and spaces where you can relax. At the same time, you have the benefit of being part of the whole School, and a huge range of clubs, societies and extra-curricular activities are on offer to expand your experience.

Sixth Formers automatically become members of our Alumni association, a forum for keeping in touch with fellow students and the School after leaving. The extensive Alumni database also provides access to experts in their fields who can give careers advice and help with networking.

All this adds up to an incredibly challenging and vibrant two years. Study and leisure intermingle; increasing responsibility rewards hard work and commitment, and intellectual challenge leads to achievements you never thought possible.

Head of Sixth Form, Katie Beston

Brentwood undoubtedly had a great influence on moulding me. It provided a great environment for me to develop - not only academically, but in every other way.
