On Thursday 26th April 2012, Students of Brentwood School were fortunate to see first-hand the official London 2012 Olympic Torch. Accompanied by a member of the Metropolitan Police team responsible for security, the torch was shown to all parts of the School during the two hour long visit. The week aims to promote the importance of developing children's communication skills in the early years and this year's theme was mini beasts and gardens. The children prepared a variety of chatterbox activities including singing rhymes, reciting poems, using instruments and following instructions which they performed to their parents.

A Chinese New Year workshop for Reception children was held in the Pre-Preparatory Hall this week. Pupils in both Reception classes learnt about Chinese New Year through music and movement. Led by Maggie of Maggie's Music, pupils were read The Great Race - The Story of the Chinese Zodiac (by Dawn Casey) and were entertained by Chinese puppets. Pre-Prep teacher Mrs. Morgan is environmentally aware and takes a personal interest in recycling and reducing carbon emissions.
