Staff Panel: Claudia Micallef, Molly O’Rourke and a Sixth Form Student
Brentwood Staff and Student Discuss Their AI Journey So Far and Experiences Using It

This session provides an opportunity to ask questions to Brentwood Staff and how they have made use of AI in their teaching and general work. We will also have a student who will be able to share their uses of AI in their studies.

Workshop 2 Options

James Fraser (Eat Sleep ICT Repeat)
Machine Learning for Kids

It's important that children are aware of how our world works. The best way to understand the capabilities and implications of artificial intelligence is to be able to build this technology for themselves. In this engaging session, we will explore a free tool that provides an easy-to-use guided environment for training machine learning models to recognise text, numbers, images, or sounds that you can use in class with your pupils.

Ben Whitaker (The Ideas Guy)
How do I address the emergence of AI in my school context?

This session will cover crucial topics such as ethical considerations, transparency, stakeholder involvement, and legal compliance. You'll gain insights into setting clear goals, ensuring digital equity, and establishing robust safety protocols. Together, we'll explore effective strategies for training, support, and the continuous evaluation of AI tools to enhance learning outcomes responsibly and effectively. You will get a free template for an AI Implementation Plan that you can take away and tailor to the needs of your organisation to craft policies that are not only compliant but also adaptable to future technological advancements.

Leo Schramm (Head of House) and Nicholas Law (Head of Chemistry)
Using AI to develop and refine research questions for Science coursework

This session will explore the use of artificial intelligence in generating innovative coursework ideas for science subjects. A prevalent challenge for students is devising a research question that sufficiently extends beyond the curriculum—requiring insights not readily available in the syllabus or through simple internet searches. While we will use the IB Chemistry internal assessment as an example, the methodologies and principles discussed can be applied to other science subjects, various syllabi, and extended projects.
