Mr Jason Whiskerd, BA (Hons)

Mr Whiskerd was educated at Llandovery College and gained both his degree and teaching qualification through the University of Wales. He began his teaching career in 1992 at Parish Church Junior School before moving to his first Independent School post at Alleyn’s School in Dulwich. Mr Whiskerd then went on to spend six years at the King’s School Chester as Deputy Head before taking his first Headship at Aldenham School in Hertfordshire. He became Headmaster of Brentwood Preparatory School in 2011.

Mr Whiskerd is a reporting inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate and sits on the Finance Committee for both the Independent Association of Prep Schools and the Independent Schools Council. He is married to Katherine and they have three children who all attend Brentwood School.

Mrs Vanessa Audas, BEd

Mrs Vanessa Audas is Head of Early Years and Key Stage One. She joined Brentwood School in 2013, having previously taught at Trinity Road Primary School  and Doddinghurst Infant School where she was the Deputy Head.

Mrs Kerry Cooke, BEd (Hons), RSA Diploma SpLD, NPQH

Head of Drama

Mrs Kerry Cooke is one of the two Deputy Heads and is responsible for all aspects of teaching and learning in the school. She joined Brentwood School in 1997, having previously taught at Wykeham Junior School and St Anthony’s School, Hampstead. She has a BEd (Hons), Cambridge Diploma for teaching pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties, as well as a National Professional Qualification for Headship from the National Leadership. In addition to her teaching, she is the Head of Drama and an ISI inspector.

Mrs Sarah Playfair-Moss, BEd
Early Years Phase Leader

Mrs Playfair-Moss is the Early Years Phase Leader and teaches one of the Reception classes. She joined Brentwood School in 1996 as a newly qualified teacher. She has a BEd in Art and English from Anglia Ruskin University.

Mrs Kirstie Bleakley, BA

Mrs Kirstie Bleakley is the Key Stage 1 Phase Leader as well as a Year 1 class teacher. She joined Brentwood School in 2004. Mrs Bleakley has a BA in Radio, Film & Television and Sport Science from Canterbury Christ Church University and a PGCE from the University of Bedfordshire. In addition to her teaching, Mrs Bleakley has interests in sports and ICT and co-ordinates both PE and Computing in KS1.

Mr Daryl Barber, GRSM, Dip RCM
Director of Music

Mr Daryl Barber is the Director of Music. He joined Brentwood School in 2011, having previously taught at schools in Thurrock.  He has a music degree from the Royal College of Music, London and gained Qualified Teacher Status at the University of Cumbria.  In addition to his teaching, he is a Bayman House tutor, is involved in training or organising the many musical ensembles at the Prep School and organises concerts throughout the school.

Mrs Elizabeth Dedman teaches RE and some Learning Support lessons. She joined Brentwood School in 1992 after a career change from Marketing. She has a BA (Hons) in Classical Antiquities, qualifications in TEFL and Children’s counselling  and a PGCE and other postgraduate qualifications from the University of Cambridge.  In addition to her teaching, she has a long association with Heseltine House and has written many articles for national educational publications.

Mrs Jane Long joined Brentwood School in 2012 having previously taught at St Cedd’s School. She has a BA(Hons) in Psychology of Human Communication and French from De Montfort University and a PGCE from Leicester University.  In addition to her teaching, she is a House Tutor for Bayman House.

Miss Morgan joined Brentwood School in 2018 having previously taught at Blackmore Primary School, Essex and St John’s Primary School, Bethnal Green. Before teaching, she worked in sports marketing and communications working with the Welsh national rugby team. She has a BA in Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies from Cardiff University and a PGCE from the Institute of Education, London. Miss Morgan is an Old Brentwood and has a long association with the school.

Mrs Katherine Ombok is Head of Mathematics. She joined Brentwood School in 2013, having previously taught at schools in East London. She has a BA (Hons) from The University of Sussex in European Studies and a PGCE from The University of East London. Prior to teaching, she worked for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. In addition to her teaching, she is Quennell House Tutor and runs the Prep swim squad.

Mrs Kristy Peacock is a Teaching Asistant for Key Stage Two. She has a degree in Accounting from the University of Hull and a PGCE in Primary Education from Chester College. Prior to joining Brentwood School, she taught in schools in East London, and was Deputy Manager of St Laurence Preschool, Upminster. As well as her Teaching Assistant role, she also enjoys editing Incipe, our School magazine.

Head of Chinese

Mrs Rodgers is Head of Chinese. She joined Brentwood School in 2014, having previously worked at City of London School for Girls and St Edward’s School.  She has a Master degree in Science, Culture and Communication and dual bachelor degrees in Applied Languages as well as Business and Trade.  In addition to teaching in the Senior School, she also works in the Prep School.  She loves Chinese and English literature and films, hiking, cycling and cooking.

Mrs Dawn Bardwell started teaching in 1997 at Doddinghurst Infants, followed by a move to Hutton All Saints School in 2011. She joined Brentwood Preparatory School in 2019, and is the coordinator of RE and PSHE in addition to teaching Reception.

Mrs Hazel Bartlett is a class teacher and the Music teacher in KS1. She joined Brentwood School in 2007, having previously taught at Suttons Primary School in Hornchurch. She is an Associate and Graduate of the London College of Music and holds a PGCE from the University of East London.  In addition to her teaching, she runs various choirs in the school as well as the Chatterbox Challenge.

She also has a child in our Senior School having gone through the Prep from Year 3.
