FoBS is an association of parents and teachers that help organise social and fundraising events. These functions are held throughout all parts of the School. If you have a child attending Brentwood, you automatically become a member and can contribute as much as you wish to our organisation.
FoBS provides a friendly social point for parents beyond the School gates. Through FoBS, parents can network with other parents, share experiences, make friends and contribute to the life of the School.
We put together events to suit all tastes and we are happy to receive your comments and suggestions for the future.
Undoubtedly, there is a huge bank of skills and talents amongst Brentwood parents, and we would be delighted if you joined us. There are many ways to join in; helping on the committee itself, or if your time is precious, helping with organising specific events, or event just attending. In the past there have been Dinners, Fashion Shows, Gala Dinner Nights, Ladies Race Days, Golf Days and Fun Days. There are also annual events, such as the Winter Ball.
Thank you to everyone who supported the FoBS Christmas Fayre on 10th December 2016 and for making it such a great success! You raised a fantastic £1,602 - every penny of which will be used to benefit pupils.
The FoBS Christmas lunch was also held at the Plough in Mountnessing in December 2016 and raised £805.
Friends of Brentwood School is a registered charity that provides and assists in the provision of facilities and equipment for education at the School, not normally provided by the government. Uniform Donation is ‘Priceless’
Christmas came early for 85 children in a Nigerian orphanage when they were kitted out with school uniform donated by FoBS.
The youngsters, aged between two and 13 and living at the Home of God’s Grace Orphanage, all looked incredibly smart in their new clothes. FoBS, an association of parents and teachers at Brentwood School, also covered the £684 cost of shipping the uniforms to Nigeria.
The King's Family Care Foundation (TKFCare) which supports the orphanage said: “We can't put into words the expressions on the children's faces and the gratitude that continually flowed from their mouths and hearts when they received the clothing.
“It was more than Christmas come early for them... it was as a true blessing from heaven. TKFCare can never thank you enough FoBS for this life changing experience you gave to these children.”
Young children arriving at the orphanage stay there until they are old enough to move on to employment or, in some cases, university.
Parents Mrs Rebecca Eastwood and Mrs Laura Jeyibo had the task of sifting through donated uniform and putting together sets of clothing for the 85 children. Mrs Jeyibo said: “The smile on their faces is priceless.” Mrs Eastwood said FoBS was glad to have helped and hoped to give the orphanage more support in the future.
Photographs of the children in their new uniforms and further information about the donation can be found on the TKFCare Facebook page.
