Ages 11 – 16

The majority of pupils join the Senior School at age 11 years. However, some join at 13 and at other ages too.  We draw pupils from a wide range of schools in Essex, Hertfordshire, London and the South-East of England as well as international locations.

If you are interested in applying for a Senior School place for September, please follow the steps indicated below to register. For in-year Admissions, please contact the Admissions Team and they will let you know if places are available.
  1. Make an appointment to visit the School either at our annual Open Morning held in June or alternatively by joining a Group Tour, held on Tuesdays at 2.15pm and Fridays at 2.00pm. You will be able to meet a member of the Senior Leadership Team and members of the Admissions Team. (This is advisable but not essential before step 2.)
  2. Register your child online using the links on this page, and pay the non-returnable Registration Fee of £100. The deadline for registration is 1st December in the previous year.

You will also be notified of the date for the Entrance Examination, which is held in JanuaryThere will be a test in English, Mathematics, and Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. The scope of the examination and sample examination papers for 11+ entry in Mathematics and English are available to download below:
  4. Our Verbal Reasoning test provider is CEM. In addition to our own English and Mathematics tests, we will use the CEM Select computer-based test, which assesses a pupil’s verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. This test aims to assess academic potential and has been designed to be as “tutor-proof” as possible, thereby giving as level a playing field as possible for all our applicants, no matter their background (click here to see their flyer). There are books available on Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning at all good book retailers.
