Ages 11 – 16

The majority of pupils join the Senior School at age 11 years. However, some join at 13 and at other ages too.  We draw pupils from a wide range of schools in Essex, Hertfordshire, London and the South-East of England as well as international locations.

If you are interested in applying for a Senior School place, please follow the steps indicated below to register:
  1. Make an appointment to visit the School.
  2. Visit the School and meet the Headmaster or member of the Admissions Department.
  3. Register your child online using the links on this page, and pay the non-returnable Registration Fee of £100.
  4. Once you have registered, you will be invited to attend our Open Morning in June. You will also be notified of the date for the Entrance Exam. For Admission at age 11, there will be a test in Mathematics, English, and Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. For Admission at 12+, 13+ and 14+, there will be tests in Mathematics, English, and Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
Sample examination papers in Mathematics and English are available to download below:

From 2020, we will be changing our Verbal Reasoning test provider from GL Assessment to CEM. In addition to our own English and Mathematics tests, we will use the CEM Select computer-based test, which assesses a pupil’s verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. This test aims to assess academic potential and has been designed to be as “tutor-proof” as possible, thereby giving as level a playing field as possible for all our applicants, no matter their background (please see their flyer). While CEM do not release past papers or sample material, pupils can familiarise themselves with the format of the CEM Select test here.

Please Note: The deadline for registering pupils is 1st December in the previous year.
