International Boarding

International Boarding at Brentwood School

Prospective pupils and their families are always welcome to visit the School by attending one of the Open Mornings or by booking a private tour with our Admissions Department. Boarding places are available for pupils aged 13 – 18 years.

The boarding house spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and the houses are usually full by March for admission the following September. If you wish to apply for a boarding place for your child please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Send a copy of your son or daughter’s latest school report and grades, together with a personal statement to the Admissions Department for consideration. For international EAL students please see the EAL entry requirements document.
  2. If the Headmaster wishes to proceed, and there is space in the boarding house, you will be invited to formally register your son or daughter with us online using the links on this page. The registration fee is £100.
  3. Once registered and reports have been reviewed, candidates will then be interviewed via Zoom. If you are able to visit the School with your son or daughter then we will arrange a mutually convenient time for the interviewing and touring of the School and boarding facilities to take place. A reference and confirmation of grades will be requested from your son or daughter’s current school. Please note: Brentwood School is a UKiset partner school and will be requiring the UKiset test as the standard exam for entry. Further details below.
  4. When the results of the examination, assessment, interview and references are available, the Headmaster will be able to consider making a formal offer of a boarding place.
  5. If a formal offer is made, we will send you an Acceptance form to complete and return with the Acceptance Deposit within the required deadline. Once we have received your form and deposit we will confirm the boarding place at the School.
  6. Under recent guidelines issued by the UK Government, applicants aged 16 or over will be required to have an interview by telephone or in person with the Home Office. Applicants should be able to outline their desire to study in the UK, and be prepared to discuss their immigration history, education plans, level of research taken into the proposed course of study, and their personal and financial circumstances.
  7. Applicants must provide confirmation from a parent or guardian that they consent to the arrangements for their child's travel to the UK, and reception and care once here. Evidence (e.g birth/adoption certificate or Court document) of the relationship between an applicant and their parent/guardian will be required as part of the application.
  8. Please note that the School is a Tier 4 Sponsor and will provide the necessary support and documentation for visa application, should this be required. There is a small fee associated with this service.

The boarding housemasters/mistresses provide full admission information to all those joining well in advance of the September start date.

Examinations

Brentwood School is a UKiset partner school and will be requiring the UKiset test as the standard exam for entry. Our entry requirements are B1 English for Years 9&10, B2 for Years 11&12 and mean standardised scores at least in line with the UK independent school average.

Registration is here

UKiset information is here (note that this can be sat at home, with online supervision by Ukiset at no extra cost). The fee is £295 and results can be sent to 5 senior schools.

iGCSE, GCSE or IB MYP predicted grades replace UKiset as the exam requirement for entry, where the student is studying for these exams.

Assuming that students meet the requirements an interview will follow.
