Brentwood School Hosts 4th Rapid Play Chess Tournament with Over 100 Players from Across Essex
More than 100 adult and junior chess enthusiasts from across Essex took part in last Saturday’s 4th Brentwood Rapid Play Chess Tournament which was hosted and co-organised by Brentwood School. These included 16 Brentwood School students from Year 2 to Year 13.
Head of Brentwood School Chess, Robin Slade, said: “The oldest and youngest players were separated by over 70 years but a love of chess can bring together people of all ages and backgrounds. The oldest and youngest players would both end up winning a prize!”
The Minor Section prizes were dominated by the junior players. Brentwood student Akaash (Year 10) was among those in joint-second place.
Mr Slade added: “It was particularly nice to see some parents taking part alongside their children for the first time to get a taste of tournament experience. Thank you to everyone who helped out to make the day such a success.”
The next chess competition at Brentwood School will be a Girls’ Chess Afternoon organised in partnership with She Plays To Win and the Essex Junior Chess Association on Saturday 11th October.
